Electric walkies step up to demanding conditions

Staff -- Logistics Management, 1/1/2006

A new line of electric walkies from Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks—available in 3,000-, 4,500-, and 6,000-pound models—offers the shortest head length in its class and performs under variable conditions, says the manufacturer. Each model can function with its handle in a fully vertical position for maximum turning capability in tight spaces, such as trailer-based right-angle stacking and pin-wheeling. The walkies' welded, solid-steel bar construction and durable side rails are more than 2.5 times thicker than most competitive offerings, says Mitsubishi. Other features include advanced regenerative braking that recovers energy pulled from the battery while using the opposite travel direction to slow or stop the unit, and sealed switches for the control handle that are rated for at least one million cycles.
