TACOMA, Wash.—Carlile Transportation Systems, Inc., an Anchorage, Alaska-based motor carrier and full-service logistics company, opened its new south terminal at the Port of Tacoma on the Hylebos Waterway last week. The company said the new terminal will replace its former terminal in Federal Way, Wash.
The new 80-door cross-dock is four times the size of the previous terminal and allows trucks to deliver freight on one side and load up on the other.
The facility, with access to both rail and water, consists of 50,000 square feet of cross-dock and 14,000 square feet of office space on 16 acres of land.
The digital security network of 80 cameras has over two terabytes of storage and physical access to the terminal is limited by computer-controlled doors and gates fitted with proximity card sensors.
Thirty-two miles of Ethernet and fiber optic cable in the office, warehouse, and yard connects over 50 workstations and servers to the corporate network which spans from Texas to Alaska.
