Void-fill pillows offer lower cost per cubic foot

Staff -- Logistics Management, 2/1/2006

Automated Packaging Inc.'s AirPouch Express 3 is a portable, benchtop unit that produces strips of air pillows at a speed of more than 50 feet per minute. It weighs 35 pounds and has a footprint of 20 inches x 12 inches. Its quiet, all-electric design requires no compressed air.

The Express 3's new 8 x 10-inch and 8 x 12-inch pillow sizes offer higher yields, lower costs, and longer run times between changeovers. According to the manufacturer, the larger sizes can yield almost twice the volume and can cost up to 40 percent less per cubic foot than small pillows.

The pillow material is puncture-resistant polyethylene that comes fan-folded in conveniently sized boxes. Automated Packaging Inc. 800-527-0733 www.autobag.com
