Revolving shelves save storage space

Staff -- Logistics Management, 8/1/2005

Rotabins are circular, revolving steel shelves that can be divided into triangular bins and mounted in stacks on a vertical axle.

The bins, which operate on the "lazy susan" design, save space and allow one stationary person to pick small parts more quickly than is possible with conventional linear shelving.

Each Rotabin shelf is capable of holding loads weighing up to 500 pounds, the manufacturer says. The shelving systems are available in three different models, which offer a variety of bin sizes. They are especially suited for picking small parts of variable shapes and sizes.
