Software upgrade adds rail stations, carriers

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 10/1/2006

ALK Technologies has released PC MILER Rail 13—the latest version of its rail routing, mileage, and mapping software. The update covers 240,000 miles of North American rail lines and an additional 1,072 active freight stations, for a total of 49,857 stations. Nine more railroads have been added, bringing the total to 700 carriers and more than 3,400 unique junction interchanges. The software also offers enhanced interline routing.

A new Auto Racks routing option designed for multilevel rail cars joins traditional routing options, including Intermodal and Coal/Bulk. In addition, the software allows users to assign custom station or customer names to the database.
