New lift truck line is environmentally friendly

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 1/1/2007

Toyota Material Handling U.S.A. has released its line of 8-Series lift trucks, which includes 3,000–6,500 lb., internal-combustion cushion- and pneumatic-tire models.

Toyota’s 4Y engine features a closed-loop fuel-system design that automatically adjusts and optimizes the air/fuel-mixture ratio. The system works in conjunction with a three-way catalytic muffler, together minimizing emissions such as hydrocarbons (HC), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and carbon monoxide (CO). As a result, all gas-, LPG-, and CNG-configured truck models will produce 70 percent less smog-forming emissions than the 2007 federal EPA standards.

The emissions system also meets the more stringent 2010 California Air Resource Board (CARB) emissions standards adopted in May 2006.
