Global Logistics: Kuehne + Nagel makes inroads in Russia

SCHINDELLEGI, Russia—Global logistics services provide Kuehne + Nagel said yesterday it is continuing to expand in Russia, by introducing a branch in Kaliningrad and an airfreight office at Moscow Domodedovo International Airport.
"The opening of these two new locations is a further step in our strategy of establishing a logistics network across Russia to ever better support our customers in developing this dynamic market," said Clemens Abt, Regional Manager North East Europe and Managing Director of Kuehne + Nagel in Russia, in a statement.
The company said in a statement that establishing a presence in Kaliningrad is key, as it is an important route into mainland Russia. And it added that with its year-round ice free port, it offers various potential logistics opportunities. This office, said Kuehne + Nagel will first focus on seafreight services and over the next year it will add overland, warehousing, and airfreight services as well.
Kuehne + Nagel's airfreight office at Moscow Domodedovo International Airport will be located on the airport’s new cargo terminal, and Kuehne + Nagel noted it will provide shippers with airfreight import, export and transit services, which also include its new Cargo 2000-based airfreight products and customs services.
