The American Trucking Associations’ research arm, the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI), unveiled this week its list of the top ten critical issues identified by U.S. truckers. Commercial driver hours-of-service rules and the driver shortage top the list in ATRI’s survey of more than 5,000 trucking industry executives. The survey results were released in Orlando at the ATA’s annual conference.
Aside from the hours of service and the driver shortage, other “Top Ten” issues include fuel concerns, congestion, government regulation, tolls and highway funding, tort reform and truck driver training. The ATA said the survey results will be utilized to better focus its advocacy role on behalf of the U.S. trucking industry.
