Pilot Freight Services rolls out automotive shipping and logistics division

LIMA, Pa.—Full-service transportation and logistics services provider Pilot Freight Services said this week it has rolled out an automotive shipping and logistics division, which, it said, will assist the automotive industry optimize the management of global parts shipments with flexible scheduling that supports just-in-time inventory and assembly methods.

Pilot said this new division is geared towards automotive industry OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), Tier One and Tier Two suppliers, and third-party logistics (3PL) service companies, which can now turn to Pilot to transfer auto parts of any weight and any size, including components for vehicle assembly and after-market repair and replacement parts.

“Auto industry players who want a more flexible, cost-effective and accurate supply chain can now partner with Pilot, and benefit from our mature network and hands-on customer service,” said Pilot CEO Richard G. Phillips Jr. in a statement.

In October, Pilot Freight Services changed its name from Pilot Air Freight to better represent its broader range of shipping products and services—including freight forwarding, logistics, air, and maritime, as well as to highlight its growth in services and market presence.
