Customs and Border Protection extends comments deadline in 10+2
NITL -- Logistics Management, 2/6/2008
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has extended the deadline for filing comments to March 18, 2008 on the Advance Trade Data Initiative’s notice of proposed rule making (NPRM) which is commonly referred to as 10+2. The new deadline extends by 15 days the time that interested parties may express their views on the NPRM. The proposal would significantly increase the informational requirements and responsibilities that importers must directly provide to CBP. Briefly under the NPRM, importers must file 10 data sets with CBP at least 24 hours prior to foreign loading of the cargo onto a ocean vessel bound for the United States. Carriers must file an additional two data sets (Notice, January 4).
Last month the League joined with several other organizations in requesting a 30 day extension for filing views (Notice, January 18).
The League’s Select Committee on Security has organized a sub-committee to formulate views and comments on behalf of the League.Would you like a complete update of what's happening inside the beltway every week?
