Transportation and logistics executives on the move

WALTHAM, Mass.—The past few weeks have seen some notable personnel announcements from various transportation and logistics services providers. For more information, see below.
· Con-way has named David L. Miller as vice president, Global Policy and Economic Sustainability. In his new role, Miller will oversee Con-way’s strategies and programs related to legislative, regulatory, public policy, and corporate sustainability affairs at local, state, national, and international levels. Miller was previously at Con-way Freight, the company’s LTL unit, where he was chief operating officer since 2007. Miller has been in the trucking industry since 1972 and joined Con-way as a freight operations supervisor in 1983. Other subsequent positions he has held at Con-way include: service manager, region manager, director of quality, vice president and director of strategic planning, president of Con-way Southern Express, and president of Con-way Central Express.
· Con-Way Freight announced that W. Gregory Lehmkuhl has joined the company as executive vice president of operations. Lehmkuhl will be responsible for the strategic planning and execution of Con-way Freight’s operating network, process design, analysis and implementation, and network configuration and production efficiency, among other duties, according to the company. He joins Con-way Freight from the company’s 3PL subsidiary Menlo Worldwide, where he served as vice president of Menlo’s Automotive Industry Group, overseeing global strategic development, solution engineering and implementation, sales, pricing, customer service, and account management. Prior to joining Menlo in 2001, Lehmkuhl served in various global logistics and operations management roles with Delphi Automotive Systems, where he managed transportation, warehousing, and customs brokerage for its manufacturing operations.
· Class I railroad carrier Union Pacific said that Tom Jacobi has been named vice president-Operating Systems and Practices, a newly-created position. In his new role, Jacobi will oversee UP’s Network Reliability project, which implements Technology Driven Operations such as Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) and other strategic initiatives for all aspects of field operations and operating practices, according to a UP statement. Jacobi began his career with the Missouri Pacific Railroad in 1977 and has held numerous Operating roles including vice president-Premium Operations, assistant vice president-Northern Region and assistant vice president-Safety and Operating Practices.
· Kansas City Southern said that Brett C. Jensen has been promoted from general director to assistant vice president intermodal sales and marketing. Jensen will be responsible for the sales and marketing efforts of domestic and crossboder intermodal freight service. He joined the Kansas City Southern Railway in 2001 and has coordinated supply chain logistics with rail, ocean and truck carriers, 3PLs, major retailers and manufacturers to develop national and intermodal accounts for the KCS intermodal business unit, said KCS.
