NTE facilitates wireless trades

Staff -- Logistics Management, 4/1/2001

Shippers using the transportation exchange NTE to locate carriers with space available to haul their freight can now use wireless devices to gain access to the system. NTE has contracted with Novarra to enable the wireless interaction between NTE and handheld devices—a move that will allow shippers and carriers to conduct business using cellular telephones and palmtop computers.

Launched in 1994, NTE is the oldest transportation exchange in the United States. The portal currently has more than 700 members.
