Staff -- Logistics Management, 5/1/2001

UniGroup Inc., parent company of United Van Lines, has promoted Stanley A. Eisen to executive vice president of special products. He most recently served as vice president of the same group.

Supply Chain Consultants, a provider of supply chain planning solutions, has appointed Dr. Tapan Mallik to the position of vice president, technology. He will be responsible for the research and development of the company's supply chain planning solution, Zemeter.

Fred Sytsma, vice president of Michigan-based Frost Inc., has been named the 61st president of the Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA). He succeeds Gregg E. Goodner, president of Hytrol Conveyor Co. Inc.

Jerry W. Smith was named national accounts manager at Aim Caribbean Express, an ocean-freight consolidator and distribution company.

Fasturn Inc., a direct-procurement solutions provider for manufacturers and retailers of made-to-order goods, has appointed William A. Seagrave chief executive officer. He has held executive positions at both Oracle and Intel.

The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey has named Myron D. Ronis deputy director of the bi-state agency's port commerce department. He will assist director Richard Larrabee with the redevelopment and expansion of the maritime facilities.

Howard Levy has joined CSX Transportation Inc. (CSXT) as senior vice president, supply and services management. He joins the company from International Truck and Engine Corp., the operating company of Navistar International Transportation Corp.

Hal Miller III has been named vice president, sales and marketing, at Miller Transporters Inc. He has been with the Mississippi-based bulk carrier for 17 years.

China Shipping (North America) Agency Inc. (CSNA) has announced that Joseph F. Alagna is the company's new vice president of sales. He most recently directed the U.S. East Coast sales effort for China Shipping.
