Companies recently honored for operational excellence:

  • Kane is Able Inc.,a full-service, asset-based third-party logistics provider, was named Distribution Center of the Year by wholesaler Sam's Club.
  • Emery Worldwide,the cargo transportation subsidiary of CNF Inc., was awarded the U.S. Military Traffic Management Command (MTMC) 2000 Quality Award. This is the third consecutive year Emery has won the award.
  • Roadway Express Inc. also received a 2000 Quality Award for its service to the Department of Defense.
  • TNT Post Group express arm TNT Express received its accreditation as an Investor in People (IiP)organization for its training and development accomplishments.
  • FedEx Supply Chain Services, provider of integrated supply chain solutions, has been named one of General Motors Corp.'s 2000 Suppliers of the Year.
  • Southeastern Freight Lines was selected as a Gold Standard Carrier of the Year by Gambro Inc., a multinational healthcare company based in Stockholm, Sweden.
  • Lykes Lines was voted "Best Ocean Carrier in the Africa Trade Lane" by the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association, both Central and Eastern divisions. Lykes was also named a Star Performer in the Lloyd's Loading List liner analysis awards for its transit time on the U.S. South Atlantic/Gulf route.
  • ANZDL (Australia-New Zealand Direct Line) was given the Gold Award, which represents the highest level attainable in the Australian Business Excellence Awards. The Gold Award is given to organizations that have already been rated among the best in Australia and that have maintained or built on their performance excellence.
  • Sears, Roebuck and Co. has named global container operator APL a "Sears Partner in Progress for 2000" for its international ocean transportation services.
  • The NOL Group, a global logistics organization, was recently presented with an e-Award for e-commerce innovation from a consortium of IT leaders from Accenture, Cisco Systems, Compaq, EMC, i2Technologies, Microsoft, CommerceNet, Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore, and Hewlett-Packard.
