The average price per gallon of diesel gasoline saw another increase this week, according to data issued by the United States Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).
With a 1-cent increase, the national average for diesel now stands at $2.797 per gallon. This follows a 1.1-cent gain last week and a 0.4-cent increase the week before.
On an annual basis, this week’s average price per gallon is up 31.9 cents, ahead of last week’s annual spread of 30.6 cents.
The average price per barrel of West Texas Intermediate Crude oil on the New York Stock Exchange is $51.90.
Data in the EIA’s Short-Term Energy Outlook shows that the 2017 average for diesel will be $2.64 per gallon, with 2018 pegged at $2.69 per gallon. And WTI crude is estimated to be at $46.69 per barrel in 2017 and $50.57 per barrel in 2018.
