The average price per gallon of diesel gasoline dropped for the fourth straight week, according to data issued by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA) this week.
This week’s price–at $2.859 per gallon-was down 1.1 cents from last week’s $2.87 and was also down $1.060 annually.
Over the past four weeks, the average price per gallon has dropped a cumulative 5.5 cents. Prior to this four-week stretch of weekly declines, prices had headed up for four consecutive weeks, which saw prices top $2.90 per gallon each week.
The average price of a barrel of oil on the New York Mercantile Exchange was $59.68 at press time.
