Diesel prices fall for tenth week in a row

The average price per gallon for diesel gasoline dropped for the tenth consecutive week, according to data issued by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA) this week.

Falling 5.5 cents to $2.668 per gallon, this follows last week’s 5.9 cent decline for the lowest weekly average price going back to the week of October 14, 2009, when it was at $2.60 per gallon.

On an annual basis, the average price per gallon is down $1.185.

And since the ten-week run of diesel declines began the week of June 1, when it dropped to $2.909 per gallon, the cumulative decline since then stands at 24.6 cents.

This marks the longest consecutive decline in prices for all of 2015 to date and is second only to a 12-week stretch from November 10, 2014-February 2, 2015 that saw prices decline a cumulative decline of 84.6 cents.
