The average price per gallon for diesel gasoline increased 1.6 cents to $2.492 per gallon, according to data issued by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA) this week.
This follows a 1.7 percent decline from $2.493 per gallon to $2.476 per gallon last week, which was the lowest weekly diesel average going back to the week of June 8, 2009, when it was at $2.498.
Compared to the same week a year ago, the current diesel average price is down $1.241.
The average price per barrel of West Texas Intermediate Crude oil is currently at $46.26 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
