Estes opens up Dayton, Ohio terminal

Freight transportation services provider Estes Express Lines recently announced it has opened a new 36-door terminal in the Dayton, Ohio area in an effort to support “a consistent upward trend in business levels in the region.”

Estes said this new terminal will be supported by 29 employees, with 17 being new hires and 12 transferred from other company locations. The company added that this terminal provides additional capacity and support for Estes existing Ohio-based terminals in Cincinnati and Columbus.

“In 2011, we experienced a sustained increase in business levels, which gave us the confidence to acquire the terminal and begin operations,” said Tom Lamb, Estes district operations manager. “? We previously served the area from our terminals in Cincinnati, Columbus, and Ft. Wayne, IN. However, the demand on these locations led us to the decision to add the Dayton terminal to better serve our customers.”

When asked how many shippers Estes will serve through the Dayton terminal, Lamb said Estes is still growing its business in this area so customer count is yet to be determined, but he noted Estes is optimistic about the business levels which led the company to open this 36-door terminal.

He added that the absolute biggest advantage is the fact that Estes is local so it can serve customers in the area with ease.

“It is definitely a pleasure to be making such a positive announcement about the opening of a new terminal and the creation of new jobs,” said Estes Regional Vice President Ron Giordon in a statement. “The addition of the Dayton terminal signals a positive growth trend in the transportation freight industry as our economy begins to rebound.”
