FedEx Trade Networks expands Latin America trade lane services

In a move designed to expand and broaden its services for trade lanes that connect key destinations in Latin America, FedEx Trade Networks, the global forwarding arm of FedEx, said this week it has rolled out multiple new trade lanes.

The new lanes are comprised of these routes: Germany (Frankfurt) to Mexico (Mexico City and Guadalajara); Germany (Frankfurt) to Brazil (São Paulo and Campinas); Hong Kong to Mexico (Mexico City and Guadalajara) and U.S. (Dallas) to Mexico (Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey).

A FedEx spokesman said listening to its customers about the logistics challenges they face across the globe served as a main driver for this expansion.

“Our customers cited the need for increased access to this region and to the verticals, such as the automotive, aircraft and electronics industries, that continue to be key in Mexico and Brazil,” he explained.

And in addition to increased access to this economically vibrant region, the spokesman said customers prefer a single point of contact, which FedEx Trade Networks offer across all of these lanes. FedEx Trade Networks also assists in selecting services based on its customers’ budgets and timeframes. He said FedEx Trade Networks also have the added benefit of access to the entire FedEx global network when a customer’s needs require specialized solutions, additional flexibility or speed.

Along with providing a single point of contact for each of these freight forwarding routes, and FedEx Trade Networks also selects a carrier based on shipper budget and timeframe, while providing convenient transit times. 

Value-added service options it provides for customers includes distribution services and customs brokerage arrangement, and pricing options include airport-to-airport, airport-to-door, door-to-airport and door-to-door, along with track and trace options through its My Global Trade Data system for high-level freight visibility.

Bilateral trade between Asia-Pacific and Latin America has grown at an average annual rate of 20 percent for more than a decade, while trade between the EU and Latin America doubled to approximately $280 billion during the past 10 years, FedEx said.

FedEx said the main benefits of each new lane include:
-the Germany-to-Mexico air freight forwarding program connecting businesses to the manufacturing and high-tech hubs Latin America and consolidating and moving cargo from Frankfurt am Main International Airport (FRA) to Benito Juárez International Airport (MEX) and Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport (GDL).  With more than 50,000 companies operating in Frankfurt, FedEx said daily flights between the countries make it easy to ship an increasing volume of German products and materials to Mexico;
-the Germany to Brazil service sends goods from FRA to São Paulo Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) and Viracapos International Airport (VCP) and helps shippers avoid delays by having consignees and their brokers verify shipping documents before arrival;
-the Hong Kong to Mexico service enables shippers to extend their reach through the FedEx Trade Networks customized air freight forwarding service from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) to MEX and GDL. This trade lane includes flights five days per week to both MEX and GDL so customers have flexible options for their shipments; and
-the U.S. to Mexico trade lane helps reduce time when shipping across the border, with one cross-border solution moving cargo from the FedEx Trade Networks Dallas, Texas air gateway to Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey airports via truck. This service also provides airport-to-door, door-to-airport and door-to-door pricing options through this lane, while also offering airport recovery, customized reporting and U.S. Customs 7512 Export Clearance
