Lenze Americas offers free mobile app for calculating drive systems

New Formulas and Tables app features digital reference, tables and drive calculations for drive design anywhere, anytime.

Lenze Americas, a leading global manufacturer of electrical and mechanical drives, motion control and automation technology, has released a packaged collection of formulas now available as a free app for smartphone, tablet and mobile PC users.

A reference application for performing basic physical calculations, Lenze’s Formulas and Tables app provides engineers, drive manufacturers and trainers a mobile tool to design drive systems while on the go. The new application software is available for download and easy to install onto Android and iOS operating systems via Google Play or the Apple Store.

“The launch of the Formulas and Tables furthers our commitment to strengthen accessibility in the mobile marketplace for customers and other drive design professionals,” states Michael Bailey, manager, sales support, Lenze Americas. “This mobile offshoot of our printed formula collection is aimed at making it even easier to design drive solutions. As technologies evolve we will continually add formulas and enhanced design tools to the mobile app.”

Formula and Table users can perform different calculations, ranging from the description of straight-line and circular movements, to determining drive control characteristics. The app also offers basic formulas from the fields of kinematics, dynamics, force and torque, in addition to work output, energy and control technology. Suitable for international use, the tool is available in German and English languages.

The app allows easy navigation of results so users can re-use calculations for further analyses and share data with others. An integrated note function provides an option to draft remarks and other information, and save these in tandem with calculation data. A built-in bookmark function makes it easier to store and retrieve important information for later use.

“By making it possible to calculate the data and values of a dimensioned drive solution using a mobile device, we eliminate the need for expensive software solutions or bulky reference material—and bring mobile productivity to a higher level,” adds Bailey.

The up-to-date version of the Formulas and Tables app covers Chapter 2 (Basic Principles) of the printed version of the Lenze “Small Collection of Formulas.” The mobile app is optimized for devices with Android OS V2.3 (or higher) and a screen resolution of 400x800px (or higher). Additional information and the downloadable Formulas and Tables drive design app are available on the Lenze website.
