LTL news: Southeastern Freight Lines rolls out new next-day service

Regional less-than-truckload transportation services provider Southeastern Freight Lines said it is now offering next-day service between its Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Service Center (OKC) and its Odessa, Texas Service Center (ODS).

Company officials said this new offering, which is primarily for oil shippers, will provide overnight service for shippers that ship or receive in this lane.

“We have been considering the service for several months, and the rebound of the oil business in the area along with requests from customers for this next-day service led to our decision to put this in place,” said Dean Baker, regional vice president of sales for Southeastern Freight Lines, in an interview.

When asked how many shippers will use this new offering, Baker said Southeastern has interest from about five customers, and he expects that number to grow.

And in terms of competitive benefits of this news for Southeastern, Baker said that having built its business on being responsive to customers, Southeastern is proud to be in a position to respond to their requests for this service and provide rapid turnaround when their business needs call for it.

“Our competitive advantage will always be responding to the needs of our customers, and this is another example of doing that,” said Baker. “This will increase our market share in the Southeast not only between Oklahoma City and Odessa but other markets that supply these locations.”
