LTL rate hike may be in the offing
September 07, 2010
YRC Worldwide, Inc. may be poised this month to impose a general rate increase of 5.9 percent. According to LM sources, other LTL providers may follow suit.
In a letter sent to YRC shippers, company executives stated that it will be necessary to pass along a portion of its expenses “outside its direct control.”
This includes rising healthcare cost, highway infrastructure, and environmental sustainability requirements.
Sources maintain that the anticipated hike will hit by September 20, although this is yet to be confirmed by YRC.
Meanwhile, does this signal an industry trend?
