Manufacturing Day 2014 announces partnership with ‘American Made Movie’

Film showcasing American competitiveness to be screened in facility tours nationwide on Oct. 3, 2014.

Organizers have announced the feature documentary film “American Made Movie” will serve as the official movie for Manufacturing Day 2014.

The documentary’s producer, Life is My Movie Entertainment will join the effort to encourage manufacturing facilities to host public tours on Oct. 3, 2014, and allow them to show its film, which focuses on small to large companies that have seen success with products made in the United States, despite foreign competition.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to join Manufacturing Day as its official movie partner,” said Vincent Vittorio, co-director of “American Made Movie.” “Our goal with American Made Movie was to show the public that businesses across our nation were supporting not only their local communities, but our country’s economy with items made here in the U.S.A. Manufacturing Day is only furthering this mission by educating people coast to coast on what businesses in their own backyards are doing to grow America’s global competitiveness. Our hope is that through the documentary and Manufacturing Day, people will recognize that they have the power to transform America’s future and be a part of the solution by understanding the relationship between what is made and what you buy every day.”

Manufacturing Day brings together hundreds of manufacturers across America to host students, educators, parents, job seekers and other local community members at open houses and other public events designed to showcase manufacturing technology and careers. The Fabricators & Manufacturers Association (FMA), the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), The Manufacturing Institute (MI), the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NIST MEP) and Industrial Strength Marketing (ISM) serve as a panel of co-producers to provide centralized support and coordination for a broad array of simultaneous events. The Manufacturing Day program is also supported and promoted by its official media partner, the Science Channel and its manufacturing-focused series, HOW IT’S MADE.

“Manufacturing Day provides a great way for industry, schools and regional business organizations to collaborate and offer the general public an opportunity to see how U.S. products are made in their own communities,” said Ed Youdell, president and CEO of FMA. “‘American Made Movie’ tells the story of manufacturing in this country and demonstrates how important it is for consumers to know where their products are made and how manufacturing provides the underpinning for strong local economies. Our co-producers are pleased to welcome ‘American Made Movie’ as our movie partner and to be able to share their message through Manufacturing Day activities.”
