Dematic, supplier of logistics systems for the factory, warehouse and the distribution center, has opened a new Technology Center located near Frankfurt, Germany. The Technology Center, which is the third of its kind for Dematic, is a logistics solution demonstration facility that features multiple integrated materials handling solutions designed to optimize logistics processes, increase productivity and reduce operational costs.

The company also has a Technology Center located in Sydney, Australia and one in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

According to Ken Ruehrdanz, Dematic warehousing and distribution market manager, “The three Dematic Technology Centers allow users to test their product on Dematic systems. This allows customers to fully understand how their product will perform on an automated system and how warehouse performance can be improved.”

Dematic can demonstrate typical business critical material flow scenarios in the new Technology Center.

It has been configured so that continuous material flows from goods storage, sequenced picking, order consolidation and buffering, right through to fully or semi-automated palletizing are possible. Depending on specific customer requirements, different scenarios and systems combinations can be demonstrated using WCS software and controls.

The featured solution sets include:  goods-to-person order selection, mixed case palletizing, automated storage buffers and load sequencing.  The technologies featured include Modular Conveyor System, Dematic Multishuttle, Automated Mixed Case Palletizing (AMCAP), ErgoPAL (Ergonomic operator assisted palletizing), pallet conveyor and DC Director (WCS Suite of software).

The Technology Centers have enabled the company to increase their customer base, Ruehrdanz said, because the dynamic demonstrations allow users to see all aspects of Dematic engineered solutions.

Ruehrdanz also told Modern the company is adding new system solutions to the Dematic Technology Center in Grand Rapids.  “While the Grand Rapids center is existing, new investment and expansion to the center will allow the demonstration of new solutions sets,” he said.
