With its emphasis on the global supply chain, nearly 2,000 of the 20,000-plus anticipated Modex 2012 attendees will hail from more than 80 countries, either as individuals or in delegations, said George Prest, CEO of show sponsor the Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA).
“We have a number of exhibitors and attendees from China, and a large delegation from the Netherlands,” he said. “Because of the increasing globalization of supply chains, there has been a lot of interest from the international community in attending Modex.”
Countries most represented—in terms of foreign visitor attendance from countries outside of North America—include China, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Germany and Japan.
No matter where they call home, all foreign visitors will find a variety of amenities in the MHIA-sponsored International Visitors Center. The center is located in the Modex registration area on Level 1 of the Georgia World Conference Center in Building C.
Services offered include several translators to help answer questions in at six languages: Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish. Also available are private meeting rooms, telephones and light refreshments during show hours.
Additionally, the International Matchmaker Program will help foreign attendees maximize personal contacts with exhibitor companies by matching product, country and type of business information with registration details. Database-powered, this free service pairs exhibiting companies interested in exporting their products with international importers. Personalized results are available at the International Visitors Center.
