Modex 2014: Tips and tricks for navigating the show

These tips are aimed to help you navigate Atlanta, the Georgia World Congress Center and Modex 2014 in March.

Where’s the Show Directory?
Acknowledging both the environmental impact and the popularity of smart phones and tablets, MHI decided to no longer publish a Modex Show Directory. Instead, the official Modex app is available for free at both Android and Apple app stores. Downloading information is at http://www.modexshow.com/app.

The app offers an interactive map, exhibitor search, educational sessions search and information about the three keynotes. Attendees can also access their personalized agenda using the mobile app. Registration for events related to Modex that require separate fees (such as Industry Night at the Georgia Aquarium) are only accessible through http://www.modexshow.xn—comnot-5g0c the app.

For attendees who prefer paper, a condensed, pre-printed Show Guide handout is available at the entrance to the exhibit hall. This guide includes an exhibitor list, floor plan, and a list of education sessions with times and locations.

What is ‘The Networking Lounge’?
The Modex Networking Lounge is an interactive resource center that offers multiple social media and informational opportunities for Modex visitors. Located in Booth 7243 on the back wall of the show floor, the area has been dedicated as a social networking lounge—where attendees can catch the latest buzz about the event on Twitter (follow @ModexShow and add #ModexShow hashtag to your tweets), LinkedIn, the Modex blog (blog.modexshow.com), and the Modex YouTube Channel. It’s also home to a wireless Internet center for checking e-mail and networking with other attendees.

Immediately next to the Networking Lounge is information about Modex sponsor MHI, the resources and opportunities offered to manufacturing and supply chain professionals; details about the next ProMat expo, to be held in Chicago March 23-26, 2015; and an overview of the Modex Innovation Award winners.

How to Score a Free Ride to the Show
Complimentary shuttle buses will run from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and again from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. between all 12 designated show hotels and the Georgia World Congress Center, Monday through Thursday. Bus schedules are posted in each hotel, as well as at the convention center.

Show hotels include: Courtyard by Marriott Downtown, Embassy Suites Atlanta at Centennial Olympic Park, Glenn Hotel, Hilton Atlanta, Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Downtown, Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Marriott Atlanta Marquis, Omni CNN Center Atlanta, Ritz-Carlton Atlanta, Sheraton Atlanta, W Atlanta Downtown and Westin Peachtree Plaza.

Where Can I Learn More About ProMat 2015?
The next installment of MHI’s ProMat returns to Chicago next year and highlights the hottest solutions for the manufacturing, distribution and supply chain marketplace. Set for March 23 to 26, 2015, ProMat 2015 will feature the latest materials handling and logistics equipment and technologies from more than 800 leading providers in the industry. To learn more about what you can expect—either as an exhibitor or as an attendee—drop by The Networking Lounge on the back wall of the Modex show floor, or visit http://www.promatshow.com.

Modex 2014 is scheduled to be held March 17-20, 2014 in Atlanta’s Georgia World Conference Center. The tradeshow will showcase the latest manufacturing, distribution and supply chain solutions in the material handling and logistics industry. Modern’s complete Modex 2014 coverage.
