RRTS rolls out new LTL partnership in Canada with Sameday Worldwide

Asset-light transportation and logistics services provider Roadrunner Transportation Systems Inc. (RRTSA) recently announced service changes for how it handles less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments in Canada.

RRTS now has a new service agreement with Mississauga, Ontario-based Sameday Worldwide, a full-service transportation and logistics provider focusing on expedited ground and air shipments, cross-border ground distribution and deconsolidation, e-commerce fulfillment, and residential delivery, with 32 terminals in Canada.

Sameday is now handling all RRTS LTL shipments in eastern Canada, with RRTS handling all of Sameday’s shipments within its U.S. network. RRTS said that this service agreement will provide the company with access to additional areas in eastern Canada and boost service levels for RRTS customers, while Sameday will also work with RRTS on cross-border management.

“Roadrunner has a strong desire to grow its volume of cross-border business and having an exclusive alignment with a great, respected partner like Sameday made great sense for both our short and long-term strategy,”  LM, Roadrunner LTL President Grant Crawford said when asked what drove the need for this partnership.

Prior to announcing its agreement with Sameday, Crawford said Midland Transport was Roadrunner’s partner in Eastern Canada.

“We have a lot of respect for the Midland organization,” he said. “We just felt having an exclusive partnership like we now have with Sameday provided us increased ability for sustained and long-term focus and growth. We continue to serve the central prairie Provinces with Kindersley and British Columbia/Alberta with Pacific Coast.”

On the cross-border side, Crawford said that Sameday’ strong and dense footprint in eastern Canada will provide RRTS customers with increased peace of mind and ease of doing business with, which he explained is a key component in driving further growth.

Crawford said that biggest customer benefits of this deal Increased direct coverage in Canada and exclusive partnership between Roadrunner and Sameday, providing a single carrier on both sides of the border.
