RRTS subsidiary Marisol opens up El Paso office

Non asset-based third-party logistics services provider Roadrunner Transportation Systems’ (RRTS) international freight forwarder and customs brokerage subsidiary Marisol International said last week it opened a new office in El Paso, Texas.

Marisol said this new office will be operated as and function through a partnership with its corporate sibling Stagecoach Cartage and Distribution LLC, which is also owned by RRTS.

“We are extremely excited about beginning our expansion of Marisol International along the U.S./Mexican border in El Paso. El Paso has a highly skilled workforce and its strategic location provides connectivity to best-in-class companies in manufacturing, automotive, defense/homeland security, biomedical and consumer electronics,” said William Goodgion, President of Roadrunner Transportation System’s Global Solutions segment, in a statement.

Company officials said that this new office located at one of the United States’ busiest border ports will expedite the processing of cross-border shipments, coupled with Marisol’s bi-lingual staff will enabling seamless communication between customers, vendors and customs officials.

And Scott McLaughlin, President of Stagecoach Cartage and Distribution LLC, said that the Stagecoach-Marisol partnership in El Paso will allow the companies to continue to provide reliable and efficient logistics services for its customers, explaining that Stagecoach’s cross-border transportation expertise, combined with Marisol’s customs brokerage competency, will provide a unified solution for clients not only at the border but throughout North America.

RRTS acquired Marisol in July 2013. RRTS said the purchase price was $66 million and an earn-out capped at $2.5 million.

This acquisition was part of its key strategic objectives to broaden its international capabilities to meet customers’ total transportation and logistics needs,” said Mark DiBlasi, President and CEO of Roadrunner at the time of the deal in July 2013.

“Many of our existing 35,000 customers import and export raw materials, purchased components, and finished products,” he said. “Marisol represents an ideal fit both strategically and culturally.  The addition of Marisol will enable us to provide a comprehensive, global supply chain solution to our combined customer base. We will be able to handle full- and less-than container load shipments from origin to destination on a global basis for both refrigerated and dry freight.”
