Shipping Pallets: White & Co. announces Best Pallet and Best Load Version 2.1.

New version of pallet and unit load design software now includes block pallet design and analysis

Blacksburg, VA. – Packaging research and consulting firm White & Company LLC announced today the launch of Best Load and Best Pallet version 2.1 which includes a state of the art structural analysis procedure for block pallets. With the introduction of Version 2.1, one can use Best Pallet to design almost any wood pallet and use Best Load for almost any unit load. Both software packages are user-friendly and simplified for pallet and packaging professionals, buyers and end-users.

Best Pallet™ is a pallet design tool that helps designers reduce pallet cost.

Best Load™ is a unit load design tool that helps pallet, packaging, and supply chain operators reduce supply chain operating cost.

“The updates are a response to the market since our clients have been requesting these tools for well over a decade,” says Marshall S. White, Ph.D., president of White and Company. “The new versions include a very sophisticated 3-D, FEA model of wood block pallets that is easy to use and coincides with the increased world- wide interest in block pallet designs.”

White adds that the software packages can now be used to design 4 to 12 block or post wood pallets, of most any size and geometry, manufactured almost anywhere in the world. “We are confident that our customers will embrace this new version of each software as an opportunity to reduce pallet, packaging and supply chain operating costs,” White says.

White and his team developed the Best Pallet and Best Load mathematical models based on over 30 years of research while White was directing Virginia Tech’s, Center for Packaging and Unit Load Design. These developments continue with White and Company’s support of Virginia Tech research, outreach and educational programs. Best Palletestimates the safe load capacity and deflection of any wood pallets supporting many types of packaged product during use. Best Load does this and more. It can be used to optimize the design of corrugated containers and other distribution packaging. It fits packaging to pallets and unit loads to trailers or containers and generates supply chain sustainability metrics. It is the only software that maps the stress distribution between pallets and packaging, giving package and pallet designers a tool to typically reduce packaging costs by 8 to 18%.

In addition to the new versions, the company is developing Best Load Pro. The tool will include CAD capability for optimizing display ready packaging on display ready end of aisle pallets, as well as interior packs, bottles, cans, tubes, folding cartons, etc.

For more information and to download trial versions of Best Pallet and Best Load, visit http://www.whiteandcompany.net. Both software packages are available for an annual license fee, with discounts available for multiple installations. Licensees will own the designs they produce indefinitely, regardless of lease renewal.
