In a press conference on Tuesday, SI Systems (Booth 3327) highlighted its VWare warehouse management and control software (WMS/WCS). The modular software for was developed by Innovative Automation, acquired by SI Systems last April, explained Peter Rice, VP of marketing and sales.
“The acquisition was part of our strategy to offer a variety of order fulfillment solutions to the market,” he said. “VWare differs from other systems because it provides a true versioned product approach. Any customizations made to the baseline system are automatically included in routine upgrades.”
That reduces the risks associated with a custom-created solution, Rice noted, because all users benefit from the same source code updates. VWare can be used as a stand-alone application to control a single type of equipment, or as a fully integrated system to manage multiple devices. As a modular system, VWare can be customized for different user needs by turning on and off different functionality in the software.
“Because some of the development has been done upfront, there’s a lower overall investment and quicker implementation,” added Rice. “VWare grows with business requirements for a fraction of the cost of traditional systems.”
The solution will be sold exclusively through an integrator sales channel SI Systems is developing for the software.
