As the calendar turns to 2012, along with it comes another year of reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones, and, of course, learning things about our multi-faceted logistics sector.
And one of the primary ways of doing this is attending the various trade shows and conferences within the industry. Unless my calendar is playing tricks on me, that begins next week, when I head down to Atlanta for the SMC3 “Jump Start 2012” conference for the third straight year.
I have found this conference to be of very high value. If I didn’t, I would stop going, right? It hits on just about every topic you could think of, including ongoing things that never go out of style like rates, capacity, and regulations, as well as relatively newer things like the use of social media in freight transportation and logistics.
Another thing I like a lot about this event is that it seems to be a prime landing point for CEO’s of 3PLs, carriers, and technology providers. This gives media types like me a really good opportunity to say hello and make new contacts and get reacquainted with old ones, too.
The sessions at this year’s event also look particularly interesting, ranging from Day One Breakout Sessions on things like CSA compliance and cross-border trade to Days 2 and 3, which feature panels and presentations with very well known industry executives, analysts, and economists.
It is hard to believe that the SMC3 Jump Start 2012 is here in less than a week. Hope to see you there.
