Total Quality Logistics opens up first office in Alabama

Cincinnati-based non-asset freight broker and third-party logistics (3PL) services provider Total Quality Logistics (TQL) recently announced it has opened a new sales office in Daphne, Alabama.

TQL said in a joint announcement with the Baldwin, Ala. Economic Development Alliance that it aims to create 40-to-80 jobs over the next three years through this new office.

And company officials said that salespeople in this office, which is its first one in Alabama, will be charged with identifying shippers who need assistance moving freight, finding quality carriers to haul that freight, negotiating rates, and satisfying shippers’ delivery needs.

“Recruiting talented new logistics professionals is why we continue to expand our footprint nationwide,” TQL EVP Kerry Byrne told LM. “We won’t open an office in any city until we have a strong founding team of experienced TQL-trained brokers who want to relocate to a particular area of the country. This location was brought to our attention months ago by a team with a strong interest in relocating to this area. The biggest benefit to our customers is that they have the opportunity to work with people who live and work in their community. While we can serve our customer from almost anywhere through the use of technology, the fact that we are now a part of the community of Alabama will help to increase our brand recognition. We work to be active members of the communities we locate in, contributing through job creation, philanthropy, and community service.”

Byrne noted that TQL works with more than 50,000 carriers across North America, and last year it picked up or delivered more than 30,000 loads to the state of Alabama.

The opening of this office, said Byrne, does not change how TQL serves the Daphne area from a transportation standpoint.

“We were already moving a lot of loads into and out of this area,” he said. “The job our representatives do doesn’t require them to be located in any particular area. What the new office will do, we hope, is help raise our brand recognition in the state and help us deepen our relationship with current customers and carriers in the area.”
