UPS expands service into Israel and Slovakia

UPS announced earlier today that it has expanded its UPS Express Freight service into Israel and Slovakia. Company officials said that this effort will serve expanding hubs for high-tech, industrial, and automotive shippers.

“UPS has been serving these markets with other transportation services for years,” a company spokesperson told LM. “The activity that we’re seeing in both countries—particularly the high-tech/electronics sector in Israel and the automotive sector in Slovakia—indicated that there was a good market environment to complement our existing transportation services to both countries with UPS Express Freight.”

UPS’ premium air freight service offers one-to-three business day door-to-door service, including customs clearance and an on-time performance guarantee, according to the company.

Prior to expanding into Israel and Slovakia, the spokesperson said UPS Express Freight provided freight forwarding services and regular air freight services—regular meaning non-express, non-guaranteed freight movements.

“With this announcement, we are expanding our offering in Israel and Slovakia to include UPS Express Freight,” said the spokesperson. “Both the high-tech and automotive industries have a definite need for fast, guaranteed freight services which creates a positive market opportunity for UPS in these countries.”

When asked what the biggest benefits of this news are for shippers, the spokesperson explained that UPS customers shipping to and from these countries will now be able to utilize UPS for their express freight needs with the same reliable service they have come to expect from UPS and without the need to switch carriers.

“Israel and Slovakia are increasingly important players in the global trade arena and UPS is committed to expanding its air freight services in these areas to meet the evolving logistical needs of our customers,” said Scott Aubuchon, director of international air freight marketing at UPS, in a statement. “Our decades of experience in the high-tech, industrial and automotive industries combined with our expertise in global trade and international air freight makes UPS well-positioned to address the growing import and export needs of these countries.”
