Air cargo price fixing probe is a good start
January 4, 2008

While European and U.S. regulators continue to investigate at least a dozen air carriers for possible price fixing of fuel surcharges at their cargo units, shippers are wondering when ocean carriers will face the same kind of scrutiny.

It seems that nearly every general rate increase imposed by “talking agreements” comprising the world’s biggest liners includes similar ancillary charges for bunker fuel.

A modest proposal: have the Department of Justice and European Commission examine collusion on the waterborne trades.  Your thoughts?
