Fixing transport infrastructure: Where’s the leadership?

What about investing in the rail system for both passengers and cargo? Invest in light rail for our cities? Why are the candidates silent on this issue?

Why is there an erie silence to the impact the MN bridge collapse has had on the issuance of oversize permits for shipments of oversize loads in some states (TX for instance)? In our case a permit that should have taken 5 weeks by TXDOT took all of 16 weeks to get issued and resulted in 645k in additional costs. Where is the outrage?

There is no leadership, in Congress or from the Presidential candidates. There was a hue and cry about infrastructure problems when a major highway bridge fell and then silence. Yet there is als0 a push by "transportation leaders" to increase both the length and weight of commercial motor vehicles. Mark Twain once said: "Suppose you were an idiot. Now suppose you were a member of Congress. Oh wait I repeat myself."
