Freight transportation and logistics services provider Pacer International Inc. recently announced that its Pacer Distribution Services (PDS) subsidiary has expanded into the Seattle region by leasing space in Sumner, Washington.

Non-asset based third party logistics (3PL) and transportation services provider Greatwide Logistics Services recently announced that John P. Tague has been named to succeed Leo Suggs as CEO. Suggs will remain in his role as Greatwide chairman, according to company officials. Tague comes to Greatwide from United Airlines, where he served as president and was responsible for all airline management functions. In eight years at United, he served in various roles, including chief operating officer and chief revenue officer.

Caines will have full operating responsibility for Kenco Logistic Services, LLC (KLS) and Kenco Transportation Services, LLC (KTS).

Business logistics costs rose 10.4 percent last year, totaling $1.21 trillion, which is about what American businesses paid for freight transport in 2010, according to the authoritative 22nd annual State of Logistics report released Wednesday.
