BTS says surface trade with NAFTA partners is up 4.6 percent in July

The United States Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) said today that trade using surface transportation between the United States and its North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) partners Canada and Mexico was up 4.6 percent in July 2012 compared to July 2011 at $75.7 billion.

August spot market freight volumes see gains, says TransCore

Spot market freight volumes in August saw an 8.4 percent annual gain, according to data released by TransCore’s DAT North American Freight Index this week, marking the sixth time in 2012 monthly volumes have been up year-over-year.

The ATA reported that seasonally-adjusted (SA) truck tonnage in July—at 118.8 (2000=100)—was flat compared to June, which was up 1.2 percent compared to May, representing the largest month-to-month increase in 2012 year-to-date. SA tonnage was down 1.0 percent in May.
