One week after the average price per gallon of diesel gasoline rose 5.8 cents to $4.034 per gallon, the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported this week that the price fell 0.7 cents to $4.027 per gallon.

U.S.-bound waterborne shipments, which were up 9 percent and down 3 percent and 4 percent, respectively, in the previous three recorded months declined 10 percent from September to October, coming in at 988,255.

A report in the Los Angeles Times earlier today stated that negotiations between teams representing employers at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach meet with the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 63 Office Clerical Unit (“OCU”) remain slow-going overall.
The PMI, the index used by the ISM to measure manufacturing activity, was 49.5 in November, which was down 2.2 percent from October’s 51.7.
The company said rates for each service will increase by a net average of 4.9 percent and take effect on January 7, 2013.

While negotiating teams representing employers at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach meet with the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 63 Office Clerical Unit ("OCU") today, several key terminals at both ocean cargo gateways are shut down.
Carload volume—at 252,931—was down 4.6 percent annually, and intermodal volumes—at 194,538 trailers and containers—were up 1.9 percent annually.

Earlier this week, global third-party logistics (3PL) services provider CEVA Logistics reported third quarter earnings of $1.8 billion Euro or about $2.4 billion U.S., which represented a 5.1 percent annual gain.
