Greetings from Atlanta. I am at the eyefortransport 3PL Summit. This is the fifth year I have made the trip down from New England for this event.

On the heels on consecutive 3 percent gains in the number of global manufacturers shipping to the United States in March and April, May saw that number climb to 9 percent, according to data from Panjiva, an online search engine with detailed information on global suppliers and manufacturers.
Global on-demand, software-as-a-service logistics technology provider Descartes said it has acquired privately-held Belgian-based Routing International, a developer and distributor of optimized route planning solutions. Descartes paid for roughly $4.1 million for Routing International and incurred certain transaction expenses.
DHL Global Forwarding announced this week that it has rolled out a new Less-than-Container-Load (LCL) Expedited services which will connect 19 European origins to the United States.

The Cabinet Council of the Republic of Panama approved a proposal to modify the Panama Canal pricing structure, following a recommendation from the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) Board of Directors.
While volumes still lag 2008 levels, weekly carload and intermodal volumes continue to surpass 2009 levels, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR).
