With progress on a new federal transportation bill at an ongoing standstill, House Speaker John Boehner said in a Reuters report yesterday that should negotiations on a new bill between the House and Senate fail to yield meaningful progress by June 30, when the most recent extension expires, the next step may be a six-month extension.
The Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported that carload and intermodal volumes were mixed in May, continuing an uneven trend of growth on the tracks.
The time for less-than-truckload rate increases is here again, with FedEx Freight, the less-than-truckload (LTL) subsidiary of FedEx, announcing a 6.9 percent general rate increase (GRI), effective July 9.
