Once again the driving force behind monthly POLA numbers was exports at 197,878 TEU, which is the single highest monthly total for exports, topping October’s 193,548 TEU. November POLA exports were up 15.01 percent annually.

Less-than-truckload transportation services provider YRC Worldwide Inc. said yesterday it has “sold a significant portion of its assets” of its truckload subsidiary, Glen Moore, to Celadon Trucking Services Inc., a subsidiary of truckload carrier Celadon Inc.

Following an early October prediction of 2011 holiday sales rising 2.8 percent to $465.6 billion, the NRF is now calling for 2011 to be up 3.8 percent to $469.1 billion. Holiday sales—as defined by the NRF—are sales in the months of November and December.
