The push and pull nature of freight transportation volumes in today’s economy remains largely intact based on the results of today’s August trucking volumes released by the American Trucking Associations (ATA).
Global logistics services provider and freight forwarder C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc. said earlier today it has reached an agreement to acquire Chicago-based freight forwarder Phoenix International Inc. for $571.5 million in cash and about $63.5 million in CHRW stock.

Business conditions for shippers appear to be on the precipice of a downward slope, according to the monthly Shippers Conditions Index from freight transportation consultancy FTR Associates.
