The Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported this week that its Freight Transportation Services Index (TSI) increased 0.8 percent from August to September. This is the third straight month the Freight TSI has gone up.
Clean Energy Fuels Corp inked a multi-year bulk fueling agreement in which it will supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to two Texas-based private stations owned by transportation and logistics giant UPS in Mesquite and Houston and also will open three of its America’s Natural Gas Highway stations in Amarillo, Mesquite, and San Antonio, Texas to support the UPS over-the-road fleet.
And it also said that Clean Energy in a separate agreement with UPS will open three of its America’s Natural Gas Highway stations in Amarillo, Mesquite, and San Antonio, Texas to support the UPS over-the-road fleet.
Carload volume—at 297,581—was up 4.9 percent annually, and intermodal—at 265,259 trailers and containers—was up 6.3 percent.

The overall decline in diesel prices remains unchanged, with the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA) reporting this week that the average price per gallon of diesel fell 2.5 cents to $3.832.

The company reported late yesterday that consolidated operating revenue for the quarter—at $1.253 billion—was up 1.3 percent annually, while consolidated operating income fell from $27.3 million to $5.8 million year-over-year.
