Spurred on by expected volume gains due to what is expected to be a hectic back-to-school season, United States-based retail container ports are expected to see decent volume gains in the coming months. That is the working thesis of the most recent edition of the Port Tracker report from the National Retail Federation (NRF) and maritime consultancy Hackett Associates.
The container-shipping industry has been highly unprofitable over the past five years, note analysts with McKinsey & Company. Making things worse, earnings have been exceptionally volatile.
The company said standard service times for service into and out of Louisville will be 1-to-2 days in most parts of its direct service area, adding that shipper customers with freight in Pitt Ohio’s current direct coverage area destined for Louisville will be able to begin scheduling pickups on Friday, August 14.

The Coalition for Transportation Productivity (CTP)called on Congress to take a close look at data recently issued by the Department of Transportation (DOT) in its “Comprehensive Truck Size and Weight Limits Study, ” and focus on reforming Interstate vehicle weight limits for six-axle trucks.
A recent report published by The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and the Grocery Manufacturers Association makes clear the supply chain challenges consumer packaged goods (CPG) shippers are up against, with some of these challenges, specifically transportation-related ones, gaining traction in recent years.
