While natural gas is making inroads as a possible way for shippers and carriers to counter increasing and uncertain energy costs, a recent survey published by Transport Capital Partners and ACT Research shows that there are cautious reasons to be optimistic when gauging future natural gas prospects.
U.S.-bound waterborne shipments, which posted a 2 percent gain from May to June, saw a 9 percent jump from June to July at 1,178,584, according to Panjiva.

The United States Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) said today that trade using surface transportation between the United States and its North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) partners Canada and Mexico was up 6.6 percent in June 2012 compared to June 2011 at $82.6 billion.

The Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported this week that prices increased for the eighth straight week, rising 6.3 cents to $4.089. This is the highest price per gallon for diesel since hitting $4.127 the week of April 16.
