As soon as the price per gallon for diesel eclipsed the $4 per gallon mark a week ago, it went back below $4, with a 4.6 cent decline to $3.964 per gallon, according to data from the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).

In what could possibly viewed as a late in the year jump-start for the economy, the National Retail Federation (NRF) said that Thanksgiving and Black Friday holiday spending—in stores and on the Web—hit historic highs.

USPS officials said that prices for Priority Mail and Express Mail will increase by an average of 3.1 percent and 3.3 percent, respectively, and added that the Postal Regulatory Commission will review the prices before they take effect on January 22, 2012.

The Port of Los Angeles is working with the International Association of Ports and Harbors to develop incentive program strategies to participate in the Environmental Ship Index Program starting in 2012.
Seasonally-adjusted truck tonnage in October was up for the third time in the past six months, according to the American Trucking Associations (ATA).
When the price per gallon of diesel spiked a full ten cents last week, it still remained below $4 per gallon. But with this week’s 2.3 cent gain to $4.01 per gallon, it is back in territory it has not been in since mid-May, when it hit $4.061 on May 16, according to data from the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).
