Despite an uneven economy, UPS earlier today reported strong second quarter results. The company said that quarterly revenue—at $12.2 billion—was up 12.7 percent year-over-year, and operating profit—at $1.4 billion—was up 56.6 percent. Earnings per share—at $0.84—were up 71 percent.

One of the emerging stories in the RFID market is the convergence of technologies around RFID. “Sensing and monitoring is beginning to take hold,” says Drew Nathanson, director of research operations for VDC Research Group, a Massachusetts based technology research firm.
Even though trucking capacity remains tight, an ongoing increase in Class 8 commercial vehicle orders and production remains strong, according to data released by ACT Research, a provider of data and analysis for trucks and other commercial vehicles.
