The United States Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) said this week that trade using all forms of freight transportation between the United States and its North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) partners Canada and Mexico was up 3.5 percent in January 2013 compared to January 2012 at $90.5 billion.

The Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported this week that its Freight Transportation Services Index (TSI) increased 1.7 percent from October to November, following a 1.9 percent dip from September to October.

The BTS said that the August Freight TSI at 109.0 is 15.6 percent higher than April 2009’s low point of 94.3 during the recession and is down 4.4 percent from the December 2011 reading of 114.0.

The United States Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) said today that trade using surface transportation between the United States and its North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) partners Canada and Mexico was up 8.3 percent in May 2012 compared to May 2011 at $83.8 billion.

The BTS said that the May TSI at 109.6 was unchanged from April and is 16.3 percent higher than April 2009’s low point during the recession.

The United States Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) said today that trade using surface transportation between the United States and its North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) partners Canada and Mexico was up 8.2 percent in April 2012 compared to April 2011 at $79.8 billion.

BTS said that the value of U.S. surface transportation trade with Canada and Mexico in March is the highest value month for NAFTA trade since data began being collected in 1994, topping $85 billion for the first time ever and besting the previous high of $80.8 billion in March 2011.

BTS said that the value of U.S. surface transportation trade with Canada and Mexico in February was up 12.6 percent compared to February 2008—two months ahead of the official start of the recession—and up 63.0 percent from February 2009.
