In a letter to President Barack Obama, Representative John Mica (R-FL) and three other members of Congress outlined their many concerns over the Department of Transportation’s proposed changes to the hours-of-service (HOS) rules for truck drivers.
The United States Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today that trade using surface transportation between the United States and its North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) partners Canada and Mexico was up 18.1 percent in July 2011 compared to July 2010, coming in at $72.4 billion.

The BTS said that the July Freight TSI at 108.3 is up 14.8 percent from the recent low of 94.3 in April 2009, which was its lowest level since July 1997. July’s Freight TSI is down 4.4 percent from its historic peak of 113.3 in January 2005.Posted on 09/14 at 01:08 PM
